A brief history of Mickey Mouse.

Walt Disney got the inspiration for Mickey Mouse from his old pet mouse he used to have on his farm. In 1925,Hugh Harman drew some sketches of mice around a photograph of Walt Disney. These inspired U.B. Iwerks to create a new mouse character for Disney called Mickey Mouse.

Mickey’s first short animation appearance was in 1929 in The Barn Dance. A few months later in his third short, he appeared in When the Cat’s Away where his trademark white gloves first came to light. Mickey Mouse has appeared in countless other animations and has been a major early childhood role model for Disney.

Mickey has appeared not only in animations, but in comics as well as having television shows, fan clubs and of course a walking 6 foot tall mascot that is the star attraction in Orlando Florida at Disney Land.
